About This Program

The Longy School of Music of Bard College SMS Notification Program is operated by Bard College through Longy School of Music. The Longy School of Music SMS Notification Program provides currently enrolled students with the option to receive recurring informational text messages related to their enrollment and academic experience.

Participation is completely voluntary.

Students who enroll in the program receive timely academic and administrative notifications intended to help them stay informed about important school activities and deadlines.

This SMS program is used exclusively for educational and operational communications.

It is not used for:

Advertising
Marketing
Promotions
Fundraising

Types of Messages

Students who voluntarily enroll may receive recurring informational SMS messages regarding:

Registration reminders
Course schedule updates
Advising appointment reminders
Faculty schedule changes
Academic deadlines
Campus notifications
Other academic or administrative communications related to their enrollment

Message frequency varies.

Message and data rates may apply.

Who Can Receive Messages?

Only currently enrolled students who voluntarily enroll through the Longy Student Portal are eligible to receive recurring SMS notifications.

Prospective students, alumni, parents, donors, and members of the general public are not enrolled in this messaging program.

How Students Enroll

Students voluntarily enroll through the Longy Student Portal.

Enrollment consists of the following steps:

Log in to the Longy Student Portal.
Open SMS Communication Preferences.
Review the SMS Notification Program information.
Review the SMS Privacy Policy.
Review the SMS Terms & Conditions.
Select the SMS consent checkbox (unchecked by default).
Click Save Preferences.
Receive a confirmation SMS.
Begin receiving recurring informational SMS notifications.

Only students who complete this process receive SMS messages.

Consent Language

Students are presented with the following consent statement:

I agree to receive recurring informational SMS notifications from Longy School of Music at the mobile phone number associated with my student account.

Students must actively select the checkbox before saving their communication preferences.

The checkbox is not selected by default.

Students are informed that:

Message frequency varies.
Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to unsubscribe.
Reply HELP for assistance.
Participation is voluntary.
Consent is not required as a condition of admission, enrollment, or receiving educational services.

Confirmation Message

Immediately after enrollment, students receive:

Longy School of Music SMS Notifications: You have successfully enrolled in Longy's SMS Notification Program. You will receive recurring informational text messages regarding registration reminders, course schedule updates, advising appointments, faculty schedule changes, academic deadlines, campus notifications, and other academic or administrative communications. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to unsubscribe.

Opting Out

Students may unsubscribe at any time by replying:

STOP

Students receive one confirmation message acknowledging the request.

No additional messages are sent unless the student voluntarily enrolls again.
